PM Shehbaz chairs emergency meeting to accelerate rescue operations in KP

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired an emergency meeting to review the flood situation caused by recent rains across the country.

Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, briefed the Prime Minister on the damage caused by cloudbursts and flash floods in the northern regions, as well as ongoing rescue and relief operations.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the NDMA to continue close coordination with the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), providing full support and utilizing all available resources for rescue and relief activities.

He instructed the NDMA Chairman to further strengthen communication with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure efficient delivery of tents, medicines, food items, and other relief supplies.

The Prime Minister ordered that relief goods be dispatched immediately by trucks on a priority basis and directed that people and tourists stranded in flood-affected areas be promptly moved to safe locations.

The meeting also reviewed the scale of damages and received updates on rescue and relief progress.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also spoke by telephone with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, expressing sorrow over the loss of precious lives due to the recent cloudbursts and flash floods.

He assured that the NDMA had been instructed to extend all possible assistance to the provincial government.

He reaffirmed that the federal government would provide every kind of support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the immediate supply of medicines, tents, and food items, adding that in this difficult time, all sympathies and support are with the victims.
