Dar visits London to promote Pakistan-UK cooperation
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has arrived in the United Kingdom on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening Pakistan-UK relations and enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit, scheduled from August 17 to 19, includes high-level meetings with UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Pakistan Hamish Falconer, and Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.
Dar is also set to meet Lord Wajid Khan, as well as engage with British parliamentarians, Kashmiri leaders, and representatives of the British-Pakistani community.
The visit will primarily focus on expanding cooperation in digital technology, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, while also fostering stronger people-to-people connections and exploring new avenues for strategic collaboration.
As part of his engagements, Deputy Prime Minister Dar will inaugurate a number of initiatives at the Pakistan High Commission in London, including a pilot project by the Punjab Land Record Authority to help overseas Pakistanis resolve land documentation issues remotely.
He will also launch a new one-window service under IMPASS to streamline public service delivery for the diaspora.
The Foreign Office explained that the visit reflects Pakistan’s promise to promoting inclusive diplomacy, fostering Pakistan-UK relations and leveraging innovation for socio-economic development.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) that approved 28 major development projects across Pakistan.
The ECNEC meeting was held in Islamabad today and was attended by federal ministers, provincial planning officials, secretaries from key divisions, and representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan and the National Highway Authority.
According to the official statement, the 28 major development projects are designed to enhance sustainable growth.
