A constitutional petition has been submitted in the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking the removal of Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori. The petition, filed on Saturday by Advocate Ahmed Ali Gabol a lawyer and former Sindh High Court judge names the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister as respondents.
The petitioner has urged the court to order the immediate dismissal of Governor Tessori, alleging that he has violated his constitutional oath of impartiality.
According to the plea, the governor has encouraged politics on linguistic grounds.
It stated that Tessori, while sitting with MQM leadership, spoke about ethnic divisions in the province and even suggested separating Karachi from Sindh.
The petition further claimed that the governor’s speeches at Governor House and other platforms attempted to incite linguistic hatred by exploiting the Urdu-speaking community.
Such conduct, it added, goes against Articles 4, 25, and 32 of the Constitution.
These articles are a guarantee of equality and provincial harmony. Supreme Court decisions also prevent the use of state office for any political agenda.
The lawyer requested the President of Pakistan to remove the governor under Article 101(3).
This office should be made a symbol of federal unity and provincial harmony, the petitioner prayed.
