Ishaq Dar meets with Bangladesh’s political leaders

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held meetings with Bangladesh’s political leadership during his visit to the South Asian nation. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ post on X, Senator Ishaq Dar engaged with delegations from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and the National Citizen Party (NCP) as part of his interactions with various political stakeholders.

During a meeting with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher, Naib Ameer, both sides discussed ways to strengthen Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and recent developments.

Ishaq Dar praised the resilience and dedication of the party’s leaders and activists amid challenges.

In discussions with the NCP delegation, headed by Mr. Akhtar Hossain, Dar appreciated the party leadership’s vision for reform and social justice, emphasizing the importance of increased interaction between the youth of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The delegation also briefed him on the countrywide political mobilisation planned for 2024, and both sides explored opportunities to promote cultural exchanges in the future.

Additionally, Ishaq Dar met with a BNP delegation led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to further discuss bilateral and political matters.

According to the ministry, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and the deputy prime minister expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Regional cooperation featured prominently in the discussions, during which Bangladesh’s foundational role in establishing SAARC was fondly acknowledged. The leaders also reflected on past high-level interactions between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
