Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday that as floodwaters from Punjab move towards Sindh, the provincial government is fully prepared to handle the situation.

Talking to the media at Guddu Barrage alongside provincial ministers, he said that evacuation of residents from katcha areas was in progress, as the entire belt faced the threat of submersion.

“We will make every effort to avoid breaching embankments,” the CM said, adding, “But if water inflows reach 900,000 cusecs, the Shahi embankment could come under serious threat.”

Murad Ali Shah emphasized that protecting human lives as well as livestock remains the top priority of his government.

He went on to say that there was an extremely high flood at Head Trimmun and Sulemanki over the River Sutlej.
