iPhone Air with 5.6mm thickness and A19 Pro chip launched: Price, specifications and more

Apple has officially launched its thinnest iPhone to date, the iPhone Air, at the company’s “Awe Dropping” event today. The new iPhone measures a thickness of just 5.6mm and is even slimmer than the Galaxy S25 Edge, which it will directly compete with.

Apple iPhone Air Specifications

The iPhone Air comes with a 6.5-inch ProMotion 120Hz Super Retina XDR display. The phone comes with 3,000 nits of peak brightness and is also said to come with 2x better outdoor contrast.

The phone is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and back, which Apple claims is tougher than any smartphone glass and provides 3x better scratch resistance and improved anti-reflection than the previous generation.

The phone runs on the A19 Pro processor, which is also used on the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. It features a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU that can support AAA titles. Apple says that it has used neural accelerators in each GPU that lead to 3 times more peak GPU compute over the previous generation, which is said to be excellent for powering generative AI models running on the device.

The phone also uses the new C1x, which is the successor of the C1 modem seen on the iPhone 16e. Apple says that the new modem offers speeds faster than the ones seen even on the iPhone 16 Pro series.

As for optics, the phone comes with a 48MP single rear camera with optical-quality 2x Telephoto support. There is also an 18MP selfie shooter with autofocus support. With the new sensor, Apple says, users don’t need to rotate their phone to take a landscape selfie and can do so while holding their phone vertically.

The iPhone Air is also the first iPhone ever to be sold globally without physical SIM card support. Apple has already been selling eSIM-only iPhones in the US since the iPhone 14, but this marks a landmark shift for the company.

iPhone Air Price

The iPhone Air comes in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue. The phone starts at a price of 1,19,900 for the 256GB storage variant, 1,39,900 for the 512GB variant, and 1,59,900 for the top-end 1TB variant.
