Speaking to the media on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that a massive flood wave is currently passing through the River Ravi, which poses a serious natural challenge requiring a long-term strategy for effective management.

She announced that the government would take concrete measures in the future to improve infrastructure, dams, and water reservoirs.

Maryam Nawaz added that water storage structures would be developed to prevent wastage of water, and flood management planning would begin immediately.

She further stated that the anti-encroachment drive in Punjab is underway and that natural water channels of rivers and streams will be cleared to ensure smooth water flow.

The Chief Minister appreciated the role of rescue institutions, police, and the Pakistan Army, noting that their cooperation made it possible to rescue affected people in time.

She also urged the public to support rescue and relief operations so that maximum assistance could be provided effectively.

In response to a question regarding political leadership, Maryam Nawaz said she did not wish to name any single party, but stressed that it is now time for everyone to rise above politics and take serious decisions in the national interest, as people’s lives are at stake.
