PM, COAS meet Iran President in Tianjin for talks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday, where the two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation across various sectors and expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Iran relations.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Council of Heads of Member States (CHM) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin.
During the discussion, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to its historic and brotherly ties with Iran, highlighting the deep-rooted relationship built on shared history, cultural heritage, and faith.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and federal ministers also attended the meeting.
President Pezeshkian acknowledged Pakistan’s continued support and reiterated Iran’s resolve to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Referring to the Iranian president’s recent visit to Pakistan last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz noted that the visit had significantly strengthened relations between the two countries.
He added that the Pakistani people had warmly welcomed the Iranian president during his visit.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of further enhancing political and economic ties and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Iran.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to achieve de-escalation and stability.
The Iranian president expressed his sorrow over the loss of precious lives and property in the ongoing floods across Pakistan and said that the government and people of Iran were standing shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in this need of hour.
