Punjab Government Plans Construction of 57,000 Homes for Deserving Citizens

Punjab government has planned to construct 57,000 houses across the province for deserving people on easy instalments.

According to spokesperson, standard and affordable houses will be constructed under the management of Punjab Housing Department.

In this regard, about 41 sites have been selected across the province for the construction of 20,000 houses in the first phase.

The government also gave approval to transfer selected government lands to the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency.

Houses will be constructed on government lands in 24 districts across the province.

Under the program, 22 sites covering 250 square feet will be constructed in 16 districts while eleven 3-storey houses of 530 square feet will be constructed in five districts and eight 4-storey houses covering 550 square feet will be constructed in three districts.

Housing Department said the project will be completed in five years and solar energy will be provided in these houses.

Rainwater storage system will also be introduced.

Residential houses will be constructed as per international standards, Housing Department spokesperson said.

Residential houses will be constructed in collaboration with the World Bank and the private sector.

Residents will be ensured easy provision of all facilities as per their living requirements.

Quality inspection and project monitoring will be ensured regularly during construction and affordable housing project will be completed under the best strategy.
