Quetta and Surrounding Areas Shaken by 5.0 Magnitude Tremor

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck parts of Quetta and adjoining areas on Sunday evening, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan.
The PDMA said the earthquake was recorded at 6:29 p.m., with its epicentre located about 65 kilometres west of Quetta at coordinates 30.19°N, 66.33°E, and a focal depth of 25 kilometres.
Tremors of mild to moderate intensity were felt in Quetta and nearby districts, prompting residents to leave their homes and buildings as a precaution.
The PDMA confirmed that the monitoring data were analysed through automatic seismic mode, and as of now, no reports of casualties or property damage have been received from any district. The Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) is in close coordination with District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) to assess the situation further.
Balochistan has experienced a series of earthquakes in recent months. On June 30, a 5.5-magnitude quake struck Musakhail district, injuring five people and damaging several mud houses. Earlier, on June 15, a 3.2-magnitude tremor was recorded in Pasni, with mild shocks felt as far as Karachi.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines, while monitoring continues in the affected areas.
